Broxbourne Council has made plenty of promises about tackling fly-tipping. It’s time to start delivering. We’re calling on Broxbourne Council to take immediate action on fly-tipping, starting with three first steps:

  • Start Listening: Local people are fed up with being told to constantly report the same hotspots. The Council needs to get out into the community, hear directly from residents about problem areas, and work with them on solutions.
  • CCTV in Hotspots: The Council has repeatedly promised to install cameras in problem locations. It’s time to follow through, take local peoples advice about where they’re needed most, and finally deliver.
  • Free Bulky Waste Collections: We can’t just focus on catching people after the fact. Preventing fly-tipping is just as important. Other councils already offer free bulky waste collections, it’s time Broxbourne did the same.

Fly-tipping and litter left unchecked only get worse. They quickly damage the look and feel of an area, creating a sense that it’s acceptable to dump rubbish on our streets. That’s got to change.

We recognise these measures won’t solve the problem overnight, they’re initial steps to make a difference.
