Broxbourne Council meeting on Tuesday 25th February 2025

Our three Labour councillors – Carol Bowman, Selina Norgrove, and Sean Waters – put forward an amendment to this year’s budget at the full Council meeting on Tuesday, 25th of February 2025.

The Conservative budget delivered cuts, cuts, cuts for local people.

They slashed funding for the Citizens Advice Bureau, which supports local families, and cut key staff positions that could have improved Council services — yet somehow found the money to create new, well-paid jobs for Tory Councillors, funded by local taxpayers.

Labour’s amendment reversed the shocking decision to create more plum jobs for Tory Councillors and focused on what really matters to local people.

Our fully costed proposals kept Council Tax at the same rate as the Tory budget but prioritised local people’s needs. We put forward plans to build more affordable housing, tackle fly-tipping — especially in problem areas like Four Swannes in Waltham Cross— and restore funding to the Citizens Advice Bureau.

Labour stood up for workers and families.

The Tories looked after themselves.
