Home ownership is out of the reach of the majority of Broxbourne residents

Only 18% of solo buyers and 42% of couples in Broxbourne can afford the average property price of 265,000.  These figures are based on a survey by Savills estate agents and are calculated on the basis of buyers having a 20% deposit and securing a mortgage worth four and a half times their salary.

The situation in Broxbourne reflects a wider national crisis as the average property is not affordable to solo buyers in 95% of the country.
