Mario Angeli, our candidate for Hoddesdon Town and Rye Park for the local elections in May, has written to Sajid Javed, the Secretary of State, to object to the proposed plan to build a waste incinerator at Ratty's Lane, Hoddesdon. He voiced the concerns of all local residents to this monstrous incinerator that is being forced on us by the Tory-led County Council.
We hope that his objections and those of hundreds of others will ensure that the Secretary of State rejects this disgraceful plan.
See Mario's letter below.
Re: Hoddesdon Rye Park Incinerator at Rattys Lane
I am writing to you on behalf of Broxbourne Labour Party members.
The Labour members of Broxbourne have unanimously decided against the proposed Hoddesdon Rye Park Incinerator.
The members who come from Rye Park and all over Broxbourne believe that the site selected is wholly unsuitable. The traffic, noise and pollution will blight the area that has a nearby school and thousands of residents.
We understand the need for Hertfordshire to be able to deal with waste, however the proposed cost which we understand to be £1 billion should be spent carefully, ensuring that all stakeholders are satisfied.
The people of Hoddesdon who are of course Council Tax payers have made their views known. They too are stakeholders in this proposal and the most important ones at that.
They have signed the petition, they have marched against the Incinerator and written numerous letters to Hertfordshire County Council. I believe our letter to you is just one of many letters that you have received.
Their view of the Incinerator is clear and resolute. They do not want the Incinerator within their community.
As residents too, we respectfully ask that you reject this proposal.
Yours very sincerely,
Hoddesdon Town & Rye Park Council Candidate
On behalf of the Broxbourne Constituency Labour Party
