Vote to save Urgent Care Centres
Labour's local health spokesman Councillor Malcolm Aitken writes on how the Tories betrayed your trust - and how your vote could keep the Urgent Care Centres open.
Labour campaign to save NHS after local Conservatives opt to axe Cheshunt and Hertford Urgent Care Centres Last week, I joined local Labour campaigners to deliver a message to the Prime Minister, calling on him to listen to the vast majority of people in our borough who want to save the existing Urgent Care Centres in Cheshunt and Hertford. But the shocking fact is that Conservative councillors in our own borough voted to axe the current services. The Tories claimed that you could trust them to look after the health service. But instead, people have been betrayed. After visiting Downing Street, we attended a council meeting where we offered the Conservatives a second chance. We asked them to join us in a message of support for the Urgent Care Centres. But the Tories refused. Publicly, the Conservatives say they want the Urgent Care Centres to remain open. Yet when the NHS asked them to take part in the actual decision, the Tories voted to cut these vital services instead. Unlike the representative from East Herts, local Tories have refused to apologise. Perhaps they thought you would never find out what they had really done. But there is one last way for you to make the Tories change their minds. Everyone's vote will be counted in the 5 May local elections. Send the Tories a message that they can't ignore. On Thursday 5 May, vote Labour to save your local NHS services from the Tory cuts. Councillor Malcolm Aitken
