Labour gain an extra councillor as Tories and BNP fail

Michael Watson is Broxbourne Labour's new borough councillor following the shock defeat of senior Conservative Dennis Clayton in Waltham Cross.

Councillor Watson was elected with a majority of 180 votes, Labour's best result since 1999.

In other wards for the Broxbourne Borough Council elections, Labour's results also improved, pushing the BNP into third place.

The council now has 3 Labour and 35 Conservative members.
