Independent review for Chase Farm
Broxbourne Labour councillors have voiced their pleasure at the commencement of an independent review of the clinical case for change to Chase Farm hospital. NHS London, the capital's strategic health authority, has asked Professor Sir George Alberti, NHS National Director for Emergency Access, to carry out the review. Speaking after the announcement, Cllr Aitken said: "I and my Labour colleagues are working hard to ensure that the clinical review results in the most efficient localised option for the people of Broxbourne. I hope that Professor Alberti will ensure that the review is conducted with the most important people in mind: the people who use Chase Farm." Barnet and Chase Farm Hospitals NHS Trust's proposals will be put on hold until Professor Alberti has made his report. The independent review was announced on 9 February. Local Labour campaigner Richard Greenhill added: "The hospital trust has persistently ignored its plans' wider implications for London and Hertfordshire, so I welcome the intervention of the strategic health authority. Sir George is widely respected around the world for promoting top quality emergency services. We will be calling on him to rule out categorically any A&E move to Barnet."
