If you live in the parliamentary constituency of Broxbourne and you’re interested in Labour politics then we are your local party and we’d love to meet you.
You can find out whether you do live in our constituency, and which ward you live in, by typing your postcode into this search engine, here. You'll also see the names of your representatives.
The constituency is located in South East Hertfordshire, bordered by Essex and the River Lea to the East and by Enfield in Greater London to the South. It comprises all 13 wards of the borough of Broxbourne, plus the Northaw & Cuffley ward from the neighbouring borough of Welwyn Hatfield.
You can see a map of the constituency borders here.
Labour has two district councillors on Broxbourne Borough Council, all of whom represent the Waltham Cross ward, Neil Harvey (Leader of the Labour group) and Carol Bowman. The constituency is currently represented in the Westminster parliament by Charles Walker MP, a Conservative.
Broxbourne is also part of the East of England region and has one Labour member of the European Parliament, Alex Meyer MEP.
Our main home in Broxbourne is the Hoddesdon Labour Club in Rye Park, very close to the centre of Hoddesdon, although we have regular members’ meetings at The Laura Trott Leisure Centre, Cheshunt, as well.
The Labour Club was built in the 1930s by voluntary labour and forms a friendly and fun meeting place for members and non-members alike from all over the constituency. There is a licenced bar and we often have our own parties and socials there too (to which all are invited).
Many of our local members feel that the values of the Labour Party are best summed up by Clause IV of its constitution:
The Labour Party is a democratic socialist party. It believes that by the strength of our common endeavour we achieve more than we achieve alone, so as to create for each of us the means to realise our true potential and for all of us a community in which power, wealth and opportunity are in the hands of the many, not the few. Where the rights we enjoy reflect the duties we owe. And where we live together, freely, in a spirit of solidarity, tolerance and respect.
It is our aim to improve the quality of life here in Broxbourne, by acting pragmatically within these principles. By supporting Labour, you will be improving the lives of the many, not the few.
If you are interested in meeting other members or in joining the local Party then please get in touch via this website. Joining a political party is a great way to get more involved in local and national democracy so if you are thinking of joining do let us know and we can introduce you to some of the team.
Our Chairman, Neil Harvey, the party secretary, Kathy Condon, and the rest of us look forward to welcoming you. Email email@example.com
