We are in the process of producing our first newsletter for the Council elections next year and it is crucial  that we make an impact with this item. We are working very hard to produce an attractive exciting letter – BUT – we need  a few more items.

We needs more profiles of members who don’t mind having a few sentences about themselves and why they vote Labour, plus a small photo to show voters that we are not revolutionary thugs rampaging through Broxbourne, but nice people like themselves.

We also need  articles from members  about local issues, concerns, or ideas that may be relevant to the Labour Party. Just a few ideas jotted down in an email would be very helpful.

We need these as soon as possible so that we can look at this at the next  constituency party meeting on 26 November.

Please email your ideas, or a little bit about you and attach a photo if possible to Kathy Condon, Party Secretary, at kcondon@ntlworld.com

'I rejoined the Labour Party a few years ago, having previously been a member as a student in the 1980's. I work in a school in Hackney, East London, where 56% of our students are on free school meals. Working in this environment, and seeing how it is possible to be a force for good and change the lives of young people in a challenging demographic in such a positive way, made me want to involve myself in politics and support the only party which is committed to social justice and building a better Britain for everyone. I was born in Willoughby Close, just off Bell Lane, in Broxbourne and apart from a brief stint in Enfield, have lived in the Broxbourne Borough all my life.'

Broxbourne Council’s ‘Broxbourne Plan’ endeavours to provide a vision for the development of the Borough from 2016 to 2031 and how this will be implemented. It addresses key areas including housing, employment, town centres development, transport, health care, education and the  environment.

The proposals will have major implications for everyone living, trading and working in the Borough and the Broxbourne Labour Party will be holding a special meeting in January to start to frame our response to the plan.

You can read the plan here:  https://www.broxbourne.gov.uk/sites/default/files/Documents/Planning/151012LocalPlanDocOct15_NEW.pdf

Due to the defeat of a Labour amendment to the Finance Bill this week, women will still be required to pay tax to buy products to manage their menstruation.

It may come as a surprise to many to discover that having a period is actually a discretionary activity arather than essential but one person who appears to hold this view is our own MP Charles Walker.

If you feel that he needs to explain his position you can contact him at: charles.walker.mp@parliament.uk

Not since the Childcatcher in Chitty Bang Bang has there been a more shameless attempt at misrepresenting true intentions than we saw in Manchester this week.  However a complete disregard for evidence, facts and a desire to milk applause from the slavering crowds of party faithful meant that these intentions were laid bare for all to see.
